Popularizing Philippine Agenda 21

The archive documents here are a book called  Understanding Philippine  Agenda 21 and a set of primers on What is Philippine Agenda 21?  These were produced for the Philippine Council for Sustainable Development in cooperation with the Integrated Environmental Management for Sustainable Development Program in 1998.

The book rewrites the Philippine Agenda 21 document into popular language, transforming it from it’s original, bulky, official version which was the product of months of multi-sectorial discussions since the Earth SUmmit in 1992.   It describes the Context of PA21, the Principles of Unity, Action Agenda, Implementing Mechanisms and an invitation to action.

The primers were even more simplified, designed for circulation to all corners of the country.  These were printed in English, Filipino and Cebuano, and heavily illustrated.

The material was reviewed by members of an inter-agency committee of the IEMSD, and the Sub-Committee on Information and Education of the Philippine Council for Sustainable Development. It was approved for publication in 1998.
